The evaluation of genome data alignment algorithms

This research has been conducted to gain an insight into the world of computational tools that map genomes. Mapping genomes to the correct reference genomes, allows professionals to give an accurate diagnostic of any potential diseases to patients. The research particularly focuses on the two algorithms Burrow’s Wheeler Aligner and Bowtie2, the research aims in giving the reader a better understanding on how each alignment algorithm performs the genome alignment. There are many research papers that evaluate the space (memory) that each program takes up, or the time the algorithm takes to map the genome. There are limited research that focuses on the accuracy of the sequencing algorithm tools that are Burrows Wheeler Aligner and Bowtie2 and the memory each algorithm uses. Therefore this research will be conducting experiments to find out the answers. This research has found that Burrows wheeler Aligner is slightly more accurate at mapping genome than Bowtie2 and in terms of the complexity Big O Notation for memory has also found that Burrows Wheeler Aligner takes the lead, requiring less memory to map the genomes. https://youtu.be/aoYFeM_kGHQ - This is a video that further explains the research.
