This dissertation will investigate how are non-computing students are of the risk when using the internet and look at how active they are in protecting themselves against threats. Using the results of this research, an application is developed for iOS using SWIFT which will attempt to raise awareness of relevant vulnerabilities and increase security, the application will be aimed at users both technically aware and technically challenged. The application is used by non-computing students with the results on the effectiveness of the mobile application as an educational tool analysed. The results received in this research paper show that malware awareness is poor and there is a clear need of further research and education given to the public in this area. The desire for learning malware awareness is high but the understanding of the importance is low. Further research should explore different means of educating the public regarding online security and further discover the requirements across different demographics.
