The Ceramophone
Abstract
The Ceramophone (2018) by Jon Pigott and Ingrid Murphy is an interactive, kinetic piece of sound art comprising re-appropriated and bespoke electronics and ceramics. The piece forms part of Murphy and Pigott’s ongoing investigations into ceramics and sound by interrogating the nature of ceramic surface pattern through sonification.
The Ceramophone was selected for a Wales wide tour the Language of Clay, organised by Mission Gallery, Swansea and funded by the Arts Council. It was exhibited at the following venues:

It was exhibited at the following venues: Ruthin Craft Centre Denbighshire 24 November 2018 - 27 January 2019; Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre Cwmbran 30 March – 18 May 2019; Mission Gallery Swansea 02 February - 23 March 2019; Aberystwyth Arts Centre Aberystwyth May - July 2019.
