Between Obsession and Distraction
Abstract
Exhibition of 15 large-scale colour prints addressing the issues of man and the natural world; in Turin Foto-Biennale. Co-exhibitors. Darren Almond/ Sonja Braas/Roni Horn/Naoya Hatakeyama/Gregory Crewdson/Richard Misrach/Thomas Struth. This exhibition took a critical look at how we as humans used and abused the natural world, bringing to the surface those political debates around global warming, war, death, abuse of landscape and other issue’s of a documentary nature. The curator Anna Detheridge, secured contributions from a world perspective.
"IN Natura" full colour catalogue including the work of 37 artists. Produced by the researcher and published through Italian Foundation For Photography (2003), Turin accompanied the exhibition. Contents include 5 pages of images from 2 bodies of work.
Following from this exhibition I was invited to be part of an international jury panel located in Turin to consider contributions from photographers and artists in Europe for awards to be made around the theme of Bio-Diversity. Whilst we considered work in both 2 dimension and digitally we also were asked to consider written proposals for further research the successful applicants would want to undertake.
