Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian dance and martial art, has been recently the focus of many studies. This ethnographic research focuses on studying embodiment and identity as part of the experience of the British practitioner of capoeira, an area that requires further expansion. Supported by recent papers on capoeira and sociological theories of embodiment and identity formation, the author will apply this knowledge to the disclosure of three British individuals intimately related to capoeira, interpreting the findings through a qualitative manner in order to gain insight on capoeira practiced in the UK.
