The main aim of this enterprise project was to assess the feasibility of setting up an annual sponsored polo tournament aimed at the ages of 25’s and under based in Surrey, at Hurtwood Polo Club. The focus of the project was on the ability to create a Polo event that will be successful through the three main ares [sic], the polo tournament and its players, the spectators and the sponsors of the event. To do this successfully the author set out aims and objectives to complete the project. Firstly the author conducted a literature review to find relevant information which would help to further the enterprise project. Areas that were looked at were: the Polo industry/events industry, sponsorship, niche tourism and also business start up. Secondary research from Polo statistics and Mintel documents where also used in the aiding of the business feasibility study. Primary research was conducted in the form of questionnaires, which were distributed around Surrey, surrounding counties, the Polo community, and to the ages of 30 and under. 122 questionnaires were completed. The results from both the primary and secondary research helped formulate the business plan. The Business Plan is the most crucial section to determining the success of the business which provides detailed information on the service offered and the market research regarding the industry which the entrepreneur wishes to enter into. In addition key subject areas including Business marketing, event planning, personnel management, financial forecasting and most importantly the businesses 3 year financial forecasts are discussed in detail. Other forms of research that were conducted by the author was a SWOT and PESTEL analysis which helped to determine the effects that the internal and external environment will have upon the business. A competitor analysis was also conducted to evaluate the enterprises competition and to find out whether there is space in the market for a new business. The author concludes the business plan with analysis and discussion, and a final conclusion to evaluate the business plan and the enterprise project as a whole.
