The aim of this project was to assess the feasibility of setting up an events company based in Wallingford Oxfordshire with the plans of putting on a festival for 2000 people. To do this the author studied literature in the events, business and entrepreneurial industries. This was through desk based research in order to critically analyse the areas of study to gain further insight to the project area before conducting primary research. The author then conducted primary research in the form of focus groups. This was to attain the general thoughts and feelings of people who currently attend music festivals in the Wallingford area. The focus groups were informal to help the respondents feel relaxed in their answers and gain the most detailed responses. The steps that followed include a detailed business plan of the enterprise; this includes contact details of suppliers for music festivals, as well as a data base of artists and performers that are willing to play at a gig of this variety. Financial forecasts were made within the business plan in order to assess the funds needed for a project of this variety. As well as an investigation into the legal requirements and regulations of a festival of hosting such an event. To aid the author assess the market in which the business was going to be a PESTEL and SWOT analysis would follow. This would help the author see factors which are likely to affect a business venture in competing for market share. The author then discussed and evaluated the project before making recommendations and concluding the work.
