Abstract
The funding made available by the Welsh Assembly Government from 2001, through the General Teaching Council for Wales, to enable all teachers in Wales to have an entitlement to professional development activities is a unique scheme, not matched by any other country in the world. This evaluation report (co-authored with Professor Roy James) utilised a range of evidence to evaluate the scheme. It has had a major impact on education policy in Wales and influenced the future policies of the Welsh Assembly Government in relation to teacher professional development.
