Abstract
This report was commissioned by the JRF as part of their Child Poverty and Education Research Programme. It attempts to do three things. 1. To synthesise the corpus of research emanating from the JRF programme and to assess the resonance of these research findings for policy developments in Wales. 2. To critically evaluate the current policies in this area introduced or planned by the Welsh Assembly Government and their potential contribution to the amelioration and removal of child poverty. 3. To recommend a number of policy and research actions which the Assembly Government might consider. The report was launched in December 2007 at a seminar at which the Minister for Education and a number of leading policymakers were present.
