Barriers to user-centred design in the development of bespoke medical devices: A manufacturers’ view

Academic literature and legislation recommends a user centered design approach for the development of medical devices. This paper is a qualitative study analysing the development process adopted by manufacturers of bespoke medical devices. The aim is to identify barriers to user centered design in this industry.
