The study examined the coaching behaviour of a university soccer coach. The participant was head coach of a university soccer team. Two training sessions and one competitive fixture were videotaped and observed to reveal three significant coaching behaviours of the six identified. Specifically, the coach mainly uses instructional behaviour (47.37%) with the use of repetition (26.94%) and questioning (19.88%). These results are very similar to the results of previous work of Cushion and Jones (2002) with behaviours related to instruction accounting for nearly two-thirds of the coded behaviours (63.85%). In conclusion, the coach uses a lot of instructional coaching behaviours when involved in a training session or involved in a competitive fixture.
