AN EXAMINATION OF THE ISSUES AND CONCERNS THAT COACHES FACE WHEN ENGAGING IN REFLECTIVE PRACTICE

This study offers an examination into the issues that coaches face when engaging in the reflective practice process. The study aimed to find out the issues of reflection and then propose solutions for such problems in order to improve the effectiveness, the knowledge and understanding around the subject and future practitioners. The reason for this is the lack of research into the issues that are present within the use of reflective practice. The study involved four coaches which had to reflect once a week and submit a reflective proforma each week that was provided for them over a period of six weeks. Participants were then interviewed individually and the results showed that motivation, time management, emotions and knowledge and understanding were the key issues that arose out of the data analysis, these results were then discussed further in Chapter Five and some solutions were given to such issues. The final section then summarises the study and gives directions for future research in order to progress further.
