Teacher Education Courses have become vital in producing teachers with great pedagogical knowledge and the understanding of the field they are entering in this case physical education. Mosston and Ashworth’s (2008) teaching styles spectrum has been introduced into many teacher education courses all over the world to facilitate learning. The purpose of this research is to understand whether the teaching pathway has had an effect on a teachers teaching methods by focusing on their teaching pathways and what teaching styles they used. A case study approach to this reseach was undertaken through interviewing four teachers in total, two from France and two from Wales. The results of the study show that the teaching pathway does have an effect on the way teachers teach and the link between the two has impacted the quality of teaching, in particular the amount of experience gained by teachers. A conclusion of the analysis is that teacher education courses need to be looked at to see whether they prepare teachers to enter the profession.
