The aim of this project is to evaluate the feasibility of starting a wedding planning business in Cardiff. This business aims to offer a range of wedding planning services which will be accessible to any bride. To achieve this aim, the following objectives were completed: to review the relevant literature surrounding the wedding market, trends and small businesses; to analyse the current business market and competitors using SWOT and PESTLE analyses; to conduct primary and secondary market research to find out if the business is viable; to identify financial resources required; to use the analysed results to create a full business plan; and to use the evidence gathered to draw conclusions and make recommendations. Primary research consisted of 78 questionnaires distributed through online wedding forums and an interview with the co-owner of a wedding planning business. These results were considered alongside the secondary research to produce a thorough business plan. The business plan determines the success of the proposed venture and provides a detailed understanding of the processes undertaken to start a small business. Key areas that are included are the business aim and objectives, services offered, business operations, market research and strategy, SWOT and PESTLE analysis, human resources and financial forecasts. These results were then analysed and discussed, and conclusions and recommendations were made as to how the business should proceed and it was considered whether the project was successful.
