The aim of the project was to investigate the feasibility of setting up an organic bed and breakfast in Mumbles, Swansea. The focus of the project was on the ability to start up a successful bed and breakfast which celebrates and supports the organic and fair-trade industry. The project will firstly look at the academic literature surrounding fair trade and organic products and services in the hospitality industry. This secondary research will form a literature review which will also discuss business planning and business start up. An executive summary will then summarise the business idea. The next section of the project will be the business plan which will analyse the products and services offered, the market research conducted, the promotion and advertising plans for the business, human resource management and financial forecasts. Both SWOT and PESTEL analyses will also be used within the marketing section of the business plan which will provide an insight into the external environment in which the business will market itself. The business plan will then address any future development plans for the business and look into expansion options for the business after the first three years trading. An analysis and discussion section will then be included following on from the business plan to critically analyse the reliability of the business idea and evaluate the decisions, actions and processes involved in the business start-up and the business concept. Finally, the project will conclude by establishing the feasibility of the business and addressing whether or not the initial aims and objectives have been met.
