The aim of this project was to research and investigate the food and beverage industry and to assess the feasibility of starting a new business in this industry within the North Dorset area. The main focus of project was to assess the ability of starting and maintaining a Gastro-Pub that provides competitively priced food and beverages as well as entertainment successfully. This Project will firstly look at the academic literature that surrounds the food and beverage industry as well as business start-up. The internet will be used to look at success within the industry as well as to look at Mintel documents to gauge statistical analysis of the industry. The primary research will be conducted through the use of a questionnaire and interview. The primary and secondary research both suggest that there is a gap in the market. Market research resulted in 88.8% of the participants seeing a Gastro-Pub working well in their area. The business plan was constructed using the Venture Wales Business Start-up as a guideline. Sections were adapted to suit the needs of this business. Including business objectives, products and services, market and marketing, personnel, future developments and finance. The name of The Rathskeller was researched and checked for availability at Companies House and was also chosen to aid with the marketing strategy. Financial forecasts were created for 3 years including profit & Loss accounts, cash flow statements, balance sheets and ratios. These support the feasibility of the business idea and show that a profit is being made year on year. The business plan was discussed and analyse and recommendations were made for improvements to the business plan and developments for the business after the first 3 years were made.
