How effective is the Foundation Phase for literacy development: A critical analysis of practitioner perceptions
MetadataDangos cofnod eitem llawn
The current research project analysed practitioner perceptions of the effectiveness of the Foundation Phase for literacy development. The research project was influenced by the Estyn (2011) report and their findings regarding poor literacy development in Welsh schools with a focus on the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework (2012) Practitioners of the Foundation Phase and Key Stage Two were asked to fill out a questionnaire utilising quantitative and qualitative data collection methods to reflect their perceptions. The findings prove important as they reflect overall concepts and themes that practitioners feel influence the effectiveness of the Foundation Phase. The overall findings could be used to inform provision and practice in how best to adapt this stage for literacy development.
