Component inertia modelling of segmental wobbling and rigid masses

Simulation models of impacts have traditionally been developed with rigid segments. The inertia parameters required to represent the rigid segments have subsequently been derived using a customised rigid body geometric model. This paper presented the first component geometric modelling approach for deriving subject-specific soft (wobbling) and rigid tissue inertia parameters for contemporary wobbling mass simulation models of impacts. The research was presented at the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport (2004) in Ottawa, Canada and was subsequently short-listed for the New Investigator’s Award at the conference.
