The SSD (Solid State Drive) is a flash-based storage medium which allows for almost instantaneous access to its contents, something that is of great advantage to the PC gamer who desires that they get as much performance out of their gaming systems as they can. The SSD is ideal and well placed for both storing the contents and running the games. The purpose of this research is to establish how many gamers if any are employing this technology and how they are using it to better their gaming experiences The research undertaken was conducted in the form of questionnaires and then with the respondent's permission, a follow up interview was conducted so their views on the SSD could be discussed in greater detail. The results showed that despite PC gamers having a good knowledge of the SSD benefits, they were largely unwilling to invest in the technology until it had gone down in price. Most gamers that participated in this research investigation did express an interest in investing in SSD, indeed many of the respondents asked had already done so, but only for storing and booting up the OS. This means that whilst the SSD is available for PC users there is a scope for further research in the future that may yet yield more positive results.
