How to maintain the competiveness of Hong Kong tourism when it is facing the arsing competitor - Macau

The aim of this piece of work is to analyse the tourism rival of Hong Kong - Macau, how its rapid tourism development influences on Hong Kong in past several years, and to discuss how Hong Kong maintains or enhances its tourism advantage, in order to be against this raising rival. In-depth interview was adopted for the research research method, it took place in Cardiff, United Kingdom, and fourteen respondents participated in this research. The finding illustrate the 'long distance' and 'short distance' respondents have various image perceptions of these destinations, base on the data analyses and the theories of literatures, Hong Kong and Macau can ultimately accomplish 'win-win' circumstance, from tourism competitors to become a 'coopetition' relationship. This is the long term strategy for Hong Kong or even Macau to maintain its tourism competitiveness in the region.
