The area of this topic was based on the relationship between alcohol consumption and social drug use where the main aim of this study was to explore participants' views, experiences and opinions on this relationship. It also explored awareness of risks and factors of influence using a qualitative methodology. A sample size of 17 student participants took part in this study, each answering an anonymous questionnaire produced on Survey Monkey, advertised via Facebook. The main findings indicated a major lack of awareness in the area, together with known and unknown limitations of alcohol and drug use. There were also many factors of influence that emerged from the questionnaires, such as peers, environment, intoxication, spontaneity and freedom. The findings can be beneficial as the study may help to improve awareness in the student communities with regard to combining alcohol with social drug use.
