Memory performance for emotionally distinctive items in free recall
MetadataShow full item record
Enhancement memory for emotional stimuli (EMES) combined with impairment for peripheral material was previously tested and explained with reference to e.g. attentional capture, special processing, attentional blink. However, methodology adopted in majority of research was placing individual emotional (predominantly negative) in the background of neutral information. EMES might be explained by its emotional distinctiveness emerging in experimental conditions adopted in previous studies.
