Abstract
The aim of this research project was to find out the tactics of strengthening the global competitiveness of Seoul in the East-Asia Conference market. The research objectives were to analysis the historical and present status of Seoul in the East-Asia conference market; to research and identify the positive and negative perceptions of Seoul amongst conference organisers; to conduct structured interviews with a range of people knowledgeable in the conference industry to identify problems and to explore potential solutions; to review the outcomes of the interviews and propose ways of improving Seoul's competitive position. Primary research consisted of the qualitative methods of semi-structured open-ended interviews and observation to establish the perceptions of conference organisers towards the context. Secondary research fulfilled a wide range of readings in order to describe and analysis the status of Seoul in the East-Asia conference market, and to provide the context. The finding was that the strategies make Seoul more attractive as conference destination knowing from its positives and negatives. Recommendations for further research have been made on the basis of the research conducted.
