The aim of this enterprise project is to evaluate the feasibility of setting up a cake/patisserie shop in Cardiff. The author identified and set out aims and objectives in order to complete the project. The first part was to conduct a literature review. The author carried out secondary research, looking at academic books and journals, government documents on the food industry and businesses. Primary research was conducted in the form of a questionnaire, interview and a focus group. Questionnaires were distributed to the public in Cardiff centre to identify the target market and their needs. An interview was carried out with a main competitor; Krispy Kreme to understand the market better, understand price ranges and identify any possible problems with the business. A focus group was created to gain the thoughts and opinions of the target market on topics e.g. brand name, logo, menu, products etc. From the information collected the author prepared a business plan to support and develop the business idea. Financial statements were estimated for the first three years of trading. Legal issues and requirements for the business start-up were studied in detail. The project concludes with a detailed discussion and analysis of the author's relevant findings. It is followed by a conclusion of the feasibility of setting up the cake/patisserie shop.
