Sample groups were selected from two different socioeconomic groups in two regions of Korea and questionnaire responses were gathered from sixty-five grade two students of middle schools in Korea. Interview data were collected from a cross-section of the respondents to the questionnaire. They also presented their opinions about the causes and effects of academic stress from an individual point of view as well as suggesting coping strategies for stress. The students looked to teachers, the government, parents and friends for the solution to the problem of stress.
