The research will review the information on pupil achievement in three selected foundation subjects prior to transfer to the receiving secondary school. Teacher assessments at the end of the key stage will be compared with the expectations set by ACCAC and consistency in judgements belween primary schools will be investigated. The purpose of assessment has been widely researched and documented., and is generally accepted.It is not the writer's intention to revisit this area,but rather to consider the reliability of teacher assessment in different curriculum areasl and the use made of this information by recciving secondary schools.
