Abstract
Performance analysis of sport is a descriptive observational analysis technique that allows the nature of performance in sport to be understood. This study of Grand Slam singles tennis found significant surface and gender effects of performance indicators related to playing strategy. The knowledge gained allows those preparing for elite tennis competition to understand the specific nature of the game as it is played on the four different playing surfaces used in the Grand Slam tournaments.
