This enterprise was undertaken to analyse the feasibility of setting up a delicatessen, café and in-store shop specialising in gluten, wheat and dairy free food located in the city centre of Cardiff. The project outlines the main factors which affected the planning process of the business as well as the decisions made by the author with regards to the processes and methods undertaken. The author suffers from an intolerance to wheat and this was the main motive for the business idea. Experience in working in the restaurant and catering industries has shown that sufferers with food intolerances such as wheat/gluten and dairy are not widely catered for. Through conducting a competitor analysis there is a lack of alternative lunch options in Cardiff and there does not appear to be any direct competition in Cardiff city's centre. The author wishes to make 'Choosy Chompers' a quick and easy place to find a substitute for gluten, wheat and dairy free food. The secondary research conducted identified an increasing awareness of food allergies and intolerances and the growth within the industry. Through this research the author is confident that there is demand for the proposed business in Cardiff. The financial forecasts also identify the feasibility of the business as within the first 3 years of trading 'Choosy Chompers' is expected to make a profit.
