Sport Matters Group Media: An evaluation of the feasibility of setting up a sports media company specialising in 'one shot' rugby and cricket magazines

This enterprise project investigates the feasibility of setting up a sports media company specialising in one-shot rugby and cricket magazines focusing on major international events within these sports. The proposed company 'Sport Matters Group Media' will operate as a strand of the Sport Matters Group brand, a company that already run numerous successful rugby and cricket coaching camps across the U.K. The author has already successfully released two pilot magazines under the proposed company name and subsequently has links within the industry already secured. However this project will require the author to further his knowledge within the magazine sector in order to turn two successful magazines into a sustainable business. The project will include a full literature review to find out more about the industry and conduct market research into the sports magazine business and competitors. This market research will be carried out on three different levels, a ten question consumer questionnaire, interviews with experienced industry professionals and a review of competitor products. Culminating in the production of a full Business Plan including a SWOT analysis of the business and identifying the finances required and avenues to obtain the capital needed to start the business. The financial information will be based upon the research presented in the form of a three year forecast. Following this the author has drawn upon the research and findings to make critical evaluations on the feasibility of the company and offers recommendations for how the proposed business can continue to maintain stability and expand.
