Abstract
This research evaluated a pilot promoting physical activity programmes to secondary school pupils. Funded by the Sports Council for Wales, baseline data on all year 8 and year 9 pupils in the six participating schools were analysed. Implementation of the pilot was evaluated in terms of the activities provided, the children participating and its management. It has since become a national initiative and further funding has been secured to support a PhD studentship. Bolton led and managed the project: its design, its implementation and the production of the final report.
