Abstract
One of the key factors leading to cardiovascular disease is endothelial dysfunction, but the mechanisms leading to endothelial dysfunction are complex and poorly understood. This paper provided an insight into the mechanisms of acute endothelial dysfunction following oral methionine loading and has implications in understanding endothelial dysfunction in cardiovascular disease, in particular atherosclerosis. This research, which has implications for cardiovascular health, was supported by the British Heart Foundation and undertaken at the Welsh Heart Research Institute in Cardiff. Tong was involved in the study design, recruitment of subjects and editing the manuscript.
