dc.description.abstractThis study examined whether current UKCC Level 1, 2 and 3 Coach Education courses adequately prepare and educate coaches to enter the real world of coaching. The participants fit a specific criteria set based on what the researcher was investigating. Semi structured interviews took place in order to reveal the thoughts, feelings and experiences of the participants. The results exposed the strengths and weaknesses of the current UKCC coach education courses with participants suggesting ways the course can improve, and what was more beneficial to coaches’ their own experiences in a coaching environment or the UKCC courses. These results support how coach education courses need to be improved and restructured to fully prepare and educate coaches for the real world of coaching. Previous literature by Cushion, Armour and Jones (2003) has suggested similar improvements. However previous literature refers to coach education generally rather than specific coach education courses such as UKCC. Consequently further research needs to focus on what and how the courses can be restructured to help educate coaches further instead of restricting their knowledge due to a set criteria.en_US
