The purpose of this project is to study the ideas behind the pricing strategies used by fashion retailers such as Zara and H&M. Moreover, it will outline why certain retailers are successful in their distribution channels while others fail due to high costs and slow supply. The dissertation will present how these models are applied by specific apparel retailers and how they are winning against other companies. The study is divided in six chapters each of which has exact role in delivering the final concluded paper. Chapter 1 Introduction will outline the aims and objectives of the project. I will present in it the research questions discussed in the dissertation and the overall structure of the paper. The second chapter will present the theoretical framework of the study. I will show different tactics and strategies suggested by scholars and what consequences these may have on the retailers. Chapter 3 Methodology will outline the research techniques that I used when conducting primary and secondary research and what limitations and ethical issues were met during that process. The fourth part of the project will present secondary data collected and an analysis performed over it. Moreover, I will present the results from the primary search carried out and how these confirm or contradict the secondary data. Chapters five and six will illustrate the conclusions reached and some recommendations for improvements in the area, as well as implications for future research.
