This dissertation explores the relationship between the fashion and food industry through the medium of a journalistic portfolio. In each chapter I have presented the theme of fashion and food through different topics as well as adopting the style of different journalistic forms and publications to demonstrate the versatility of food and fashion journalism. Chapter 1: ‘Bristol Fashion Week Returns in Style, News article, The Bristol Post.’ This article reports upon the upcoming event of Bristol Fashion Week and is aimed at a daily, local newspaper. Chapter 2: ‘Fashion Gets Foody, Feature article, Marie Claire.’ This feature article positively portrays the personal stories of three women who combine fashion and food and is aimed at a women’s monthly magazine. Chapter 3: ‘Cooking with the Experts, Feature-review article, Cherry Bombe.’ This article reviews three cookbooks written by experts in the fashion industry and is aimed at a bi-monthly fashion and food publication. Chapter 4: ‘Cocorico Patisserie, Review article, Buzz Online.’ This article is a review of the Cocorico Patisserie in Cardiff and is aimed at the website of a local cultural magazine. Within my critical reflection I reflect upon my creative process with reference to publications, research, interviews and layout.
