Abstract
This is a study to evaluate the factors which influence academics motivation within the higher education sector. The research takes a case study approach and has undertaken a qualitative study, specifically researching the institution Cardiff Metropolitan University. The aim of the research was to evaluate what factors affected employee’s motivation levels within Cardiff Metropolitan University. Furthermore the research evaluates which factors appeared to be the most effective. Five objectives were set by the researcher at the start of the research. These were achieved through an evaluation of existing literature surrounding the topic of motivation and evaluated against the data collected. The data collection method used in order to achieve the aims and objectives, was a combination of email questionnaires and semistructured interviews.
