The purpose of this study was to develop an effrcient and comprehensive hand notation system. The system was designed for the purpose of recording Ladies National League, Division 3 Volleyball. Matches were analysed post event from video recordings. For each rally six action components were notated in order to identi$r individual teams strengths and weaknesses, thus making a comparison between the teams. From the analysis ofthe raw data, significant differences were examined between the teams and the Serve, the Serve Receive, the Set, the Attack, the Block and the Defence. Results showed significant differences between the teams and their game play in certain components (serve receive positions, serve receive quality, setting positions, certain attack sots and defence quality), however non significant differences were also present. It was concluded that there were significant differences between the game play of the Ladies Volleyball teams within the same League and Divisior¡ which has an affect on the teams overall performance.
