A comparison between the use of imagery in elite and non-elite trampolinists

This study examined the differences between imagery use by elite (n:18) and nonelite (n:18) trampolinists. Participants were administered the Sports Imagery Questionnaire (SIQ) developed by Hall et al. (1990), which involved 30 items encompassing the five imagery sub scales; Cognitive General, Cognitive Specific, Motivational General Motivational General-Mastery and Motivational General- Arousal. Athlete's responses to the SIQ were analysed using a MANOVA. The results showed significant differences found bctween elite and non-elite trampolinists, for each of the five sub scales. The elite group scored higher than the non-elite group on both motivational and cognitive functìons of imagery.
