dc.description.abstractAbstract – Thomas Spillane The purpose of this project was to create a Windows Phone application that would use one of the sensory devices available to the platform to read in data to track a user’s performance while running. Primary research into use experiences of similar style apps helped the author decide what features to include alongside basic run tracking analysis such as time, distance, etc, while also highlighting that Nike+ would pose the biggest competition to the developed app. The final product created used GPS data to plot the user’s location to an on screen map and track their route. This data was also used to calculate the runners distance and pace while the application also compared runners most recent results against previous runs to determine the user’s best performance concerning time, distance and calories burnt. The application was tested by the author and then given to a test user, where it was found that the application tracked user performance very well, with results closely matching that of the popular Nike+ application.en_US
