THE STRATEGY USED IN THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS BETWEEN NOVICE AND EXPERT PHYSICAL EDUCATORS IN NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

The objective of the qualitative study is to examine the novice and the expert or experienced physical educators chosen from the local secondary school to find the different or some similarities in the strategies of teaching PE between these two kinds of teachers. The study can give local teachers some awareness to their strength and weaknesses when managing the classroom, to further accommodate students’ needs and incorporate as much different aspects of teaching to provide understanding and enjoyment in class. The participants were carefully selected for the reason of the research, based on their different levels of experience. They were interviewed on their perspective of teaching to find out their approaches of lesson planning, classroom management, student organizing, and instructional skills. The research was processed by the use of a qualitative, grounded theory research and data collection was further analysed with constant comparison method, and cutting and sorting on the raw data taken from the interviews, thus the findings cover the teachers elements of teaching that make up a strategy for instruction. It will also touch upon their views, the schools’ condition that might concern and affected their teaching The paper included discussion, which explored the consistency of the findings with past literatures, and offered some implication, to support and minimize the problems faced by the teachers to make a proper and effective management of the lesson for students’ learning. The study also suggested a few recommendations on issues discussed in the dissertation as part of the conclusion.
