The recent emergence of multidisciplinary support teams in the quest for success in elite sport has led to a shortfall in associated literature. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the role contribution and management of stakeholders during the development of a multidisciplinary performance environment. The objectives are related to the evolving exchanges present between stakeholders and the ongoing struggle to steer the environment towards desired ends. Data was collected through auto ethnographical submersion into a University Ladies Hockey Team. Reflexive field notes were used to record informal interviews, perceptions, observations and feelings. The data were analysed with reference to orchestration and social exchange given their perceived importance in the development of the multidisciplinary environment. These were subsequently used as lenses to extract meaning from non-fictional narratives based upon data collected and personal recollections. The concepts of social exchange and orchestration help to illuminate the manipulations and micro-political action within the process of developing a multidisciplinary performance support team. Further exploration from disciplinary perspectives may be required to build a holistic view of the multidisciplinary performance environment.
