An evaluation on the feasibility of setting up a restaurant with rooms; situated in the South West of England

The purpose of this Enterprise Project is to research into the feasibility of opening a new restaurant with rooms in the South West of England. A restaurant with rooms is defined as a destination restaurant which offers overnight accommodation, the restaurant should offer high service being the main business and be open and attract non-residents (Sehlinger, 2011). The restaurant with rooms will be situated in East Chinnock, a small friendly village in the South of Somerset. There is no fine dining establishments close in the area so the author feels there is a gap in the market for a restaurant with rooms. The author aims to provide a fine dining restaurant with rooms, delivering top quality service, exquisite dishes made from local produce and beautiful rooms for guests to stay in. This will be done by finding: hardworking and committed staff, reliable and quality suppliers, marketing which will bring in a stable amount of guests many whom may return several times a year. The author completed a lot of research both primary and secondary to gather theory which provides current and relevant information to discover the viability of this project. The primary research was undertaken in the form of two semi-structured interviews with two well established restaurants with rooms and an online questionnaire which had 105 responses.The responses were analysed and the information gathered was used to aid the author in completing a business plan. This shall include the market research, marketing, management and financial side of the business. A SWOT and PESTLE analysis will also be conducted to look at both external as well as internal factors affecting the business. Then lastly the business plan will close with a whole evaluation of the proposed business and any recommendations that may be needed
