‘The Impact and Effects of Social Media on Promotions and Marketing

The emergence of the wide variety of social media platforms available to consumers has vastly increased in recent years. The use of social media has become a popular way in which individuals choose to express their views and opinions, making social media a vital part of a business’s promotions and marketing strategy. Social media platforms allow consumers to have a voice and to connect with not only individuals across the globe, but brands and businesses that they may come into contact with on a regular basis. Considering this, the aim of this research is to identify the ways in which social media has a profound effect on promotions and marketing strategy and how it is used to benefit a business. The research will focus on a small company, ‘The Nibblers’, in order to identify the ways in which social media has changed how such a business chooses to promote and market its products. The Nibblers will be presented as a case study in order to effectively analyse the use of social media in business and make recommendations on how a business can expand its online presence in order to reap the benefits from a marketing perspective.
