With mobile technology playing an increasing role in the computing field, fitness enthusiasts are turning to mobile applications to perform tasks that would usually have been manually performed using a pen and paper. This project involves the development and testing of a mobile application that people can use to record their physical exercise. Appropriate literature was researched, with attention made to the success of mobile fitness applications, and features users look for in a fitness app. Once this secondary research was complete, questionnaires were distributed, gaining information on what user requirements are needed for the mobile application. Development of the application then took place. The designed application was then given to three participants to test over a period of four weeks. Interviews were then carried out with the participants, with the participants confirming that the fitness application motivated them to consistently exercise through the ability to save their workouts on the app and post them online. Details were made of the success of the application, with points being made on where the application and investigation can be improved upon in the future.
