Can reflecting on your own practice lead to identifying a framework? An exploration into the choreographic processes used within dance choreography for live performance and dance for film

This is an autoethnographic study conducted by a third year undergraduate student exploring their choreographic processes. In order to understand and frame their own practice, two processes are explored and analysed; dance for live performance and dance for film. This is a practice research based study with the focus on a phenomenological approach to explore the choreography. The reader is led through the research by the written representation of the practical research, through the display of field notes collected during the study. Throughout the analysis of the processes, the author of the research discovers their own framework that can be applied to their personal processes used in dance for live performance and film. This framework can be carried forward and applied to future choreography.
