The project aim was to evaluate the feasibility of setting up an environmentally friendly and healthy café in Cornwall. To aid the author in reach this aim a series of objectives were developed. They included such areas as; critically assessing academic literature on topics related to the aim, conducting market research using both primary and secondary research methods, investigating and applying the legal issues and requirements of setting up such a business, producing a business plan using all the results to show the operational and financial properties of the business, evaluating the business plan process to test the feasibility of setting up the business and concluding the essay whilst suggesting recommendations for the future of the business. The author conducted both secondary research, through the use of books, articles, official websites etc., and primary research in the form of questionnaires to potential customers and interviews with current café business owners. The results from this research was then used within the construction of the business plan. The most vital piece of information gained from both research methods, it that the café market is in fact growing and the business concept was well received by 90% of those asked. The business plan loosely followed the structure given by the Venture Wales template and includes sections on: business aims and objectives, products and services, marketing, management and personnel, legal obligations and finance. Financials for the next three years showed the business turning a profit with enough security make this business concept viable. In addition to this, a SWOT and PESTLE analysis was conducted to help form a reliable strategy and so increasing feasibility.
