Abstract
Foodborne illness, result from the consumption of microbial, parasitic and chemically contaminated food products. Although symptoms are often gastrointestinal symptoms, foodborne illness can also have severe neurological, immunological and gynaecological complications and can result in mortality.1 A significant number of people suffer foodborne illness each year in the UK, and our top athletes are no exception.
